10kN Servo pneumatic actuator
10kN Servo pneumatic actuator package
The 10kN servo pneumatic actuator has an integral displacement transducer and is designed to operate on standard compressed air available in most factories and laboratories. The package outlined is aimed at engineers building special purpose systems.
The actuator package includes:
- 1 x low friction servo grade pneumatic actuator.
- 1 x pneumatic servo valve.
- 1 x analogue servo control card.
- 1 x displacement signal conditioning card.
The actuator is rated at 10kN static with a 6.3bar air supply. Standard stroke lengths are 50mm and 100mm. Other stroke lengths can be made on special order.

Services required are:
- ± 15V DC instrument supply.
- +24V DC 2A regulated supply for the servo valve.
- 5-10 bar air supply.
Displacement control
The servo pneumatic actuator can be used in systems configured for displacement control using feedback from the integral displacement transducer and signal conditioning card supplied.Load control

Figure 1a and 1b show the performance of the actuator running under displacement control under 'no load' conditions on a 6 bar air supply.
Figure 2 shows the performance of the actuator running under load control from an external load cell with a stiff specimen working in compression.
Figure 3 shows the performance of the actuator running under load control from an external load cell into a die spring working in compression.
